Will chatbots really take our jobs? Honestly about AI
So many myths have grown around artificial intelligence that it's hard to distinguish truth from marketing. Instead of scaring with the end of the world, we check facts and numbers from the Lublin market. Facts on the table: AI is a tool, not your successor, as long as you learn to use it.
43 companies in Lublin and one common conclusion
We conducted a survey on a group of 43 local entrepreneurs from the logistics and retail industry in March 2024. Most of them admitted to devoting an average of 2.5 hours a day to activities that a simple neural network could perform. We are talking about sorting mail, checking warehouse stocks, or manually transcribing data from PDFs to ERP systems. This is a huge waste of potential of people who are paid for thinking, and not for being a human photocopier.
At Lublin Logic Services, we approach this pragmatically. We don't promise miracles, but we show that after removing these bottlenecks, team efficiency grows by about 31% in the first quarter. People stop feeling frustration resulting from task repetitive nature. Interestingly, in none of the companies we collaborated with last year, did staff reductions occur due to AI. Employees were moved to tasks that generate real profit, like servicing key business partners.
Numbers don't lie: automation does not fire people, it frees their time to make money.

How do neural networks read invoices faster than you?
Imagine a situation from September 2023 in one of the production companies near Lublin. 156 invoices a week from various suppliers hit the accountant's desk. Each in a different format, some scanned crookedly, others in poor quality. Manually entering them into the system took a total of nearly 9 hours. We implemented a simple text recognition model based on neural networks, which we taught the specific document patterns of this company.
Today this process takes 18 minutes. The system itself catches the net amount, VAT, and payment deadline, and the human only clicks 'approve'. This is exactly that famous data analysis in practice. You don't need a server room the size of a football field for this. A properly configured algorithm working in the background is enough. Thanks to this, the company avoided penalties for late payments, which last year amounted to nearly 3,200 PLN.

Is a chatbot on the page always a good idea?
Many people associate AI with irritating windows on websites that know nothing. This is not data analysis, it's a weak script. Real support starts when the chatbot has access to your product base and knows that '12mm bearing' is in stock in the number of 83 pieces. Such a system not only answers a customer on Sunday at 10:00 PM but also immediately prepares a preliminary order in the system. This is specific sales that would happen without your participation.
From our observations, it appears that companies that decided on such intelligent customer service recorded 23% fewer abandoned baskets. People on the internet don't want to wait until Monday at 8:00 AM for information about stock availability. They want to know now. If you don't give it to them, they will go to the competition, which has already understood that AI is not a toy, but a standard equipment element of a modern company in 2024.
Facts on the table: a customer who gets an answer in 30 seconds buys twice as often.

How much does it really cost and why not millions?
The biggest myth is that AI is only for giants from Warsaw. At Lublin Logic Services, we work mainly with local entrepreneurs. The cost of implementing a small analytical system starts from amounts you spend on one better laptop for an employee. This is not an expense, but an investment in infrastructure. If the system saves 10 hours of work a week, then at the average hourly rate, it pays for itself after about 19 weeks of use.
We don't push anyone for complicated systems that no one can operate. We bet on simple tools that integrate with what you already have in the company – with Excel, Outlook mail, or the warehouse system. We clean up the data so you see in black and white where your money is leaking. We check facts, we don't guess – and we teach our clients the same during short, 2-hour trainings on operating new tools.
